The acting Chair of KEWOTA Modesta Akaki has advocated for immediate rerouting of teachers as was directed by the government.
Akaki at some point sent the hall into pearls of laughter when she pleaded with TSC CEO Dr Nancy Macharia and Education CS Ezekiel Machogu that in the event it is soo hard to implement the directive, then can consider lady teachers because, after all, men have ‘creative’ ways of rerouting themselves.
The leaders had gathered at Kenya School yesterday during the Stakeholders’ Engagement Forum For New Teacher Staffing Norms in Kenya.
PS Education Bellio Kipsang, TSC Chairman Dr. Jamleck Muturi, TSC Commissioners and Directors, Ministry of Education Directors were also present at the event.
Akaki represented KEWOTA in crowning the participants for their inputs and recommendations.
Akaki also urged TSC to consider gender balance in posting of teachers as well as recognition of those with degrees. She further called on TSC to enhance Teacher-Learner ratio.
Chair Akaki’s recommendations were lauded by the ACL Consulting team, the lead consultants for the forum.
KEWOTA Nairobi Coordinator, Josephine Wahome wrapped up the meeting with a word of prayer.
And all that begins well ends well: two (2) commissioners and a Director from KISE joined KEWOTA.
