In it’s quest to serve teacher’s with special needs, KEWOTA is currently represented by Kewota Special need PLWD Mrs. Mickey Handa and Communication Coordinator Mr Judah Nzangi at the Kenya Institute of Special Needs Education.
Kewota will be represented in the conference for three days, participating in the 1st UBUNTU African Conference on Special Needs & Inclusive Education Conference (SNIEC).
The conference is a collaboration between Africa Special Needs Network (ASNEN) which comprises a team of scholars, researchers, and specialists in the field of special needs and inclusion who are involved in teaching, training, research, curriculum development, and policy-making in both their capacities and at national levels, the Ministry of Education, Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) and the Kenya Private Schools Association.
KEWOTA is here as one of the stakeholders in the education sector in the country and as an association that has anchored it’s role is supporting teachers with special needs in the country.
The conference theme “Reimaging Inclusive Education” provides stimulus to the pertinent issues around inclusive education and investigates the reasons for its implementation challenges.
It will prescribe to the Ubuntu philosophy of “I am because we are” and looks into the trends, practices, and models of inclusion and traditional values practiced in Africa, including parental
and community involvement.
